What is WiFi?
WiFi stands for “Wireless Fidelity.”
How does WiFi work?
- Devices such as laptops, tablets, etc. convert data into a radio signal with the help of a wireless adapter.
- The radio signals are transmitted with the help of an antenna.
- These radio waves are received by the wireless router.
- The router decodes the radio signals and converts them back into data which is sent into the internet with the help of a physical wired Ethernet connection.

The process of data transmission in WiFi is the same as that in a cell-phone, walkie-talkie, etc. However, the radio frequencies used are much higher in WiFi signal transmission. Radio frequencies used in WiFi transmission are in the range of 2.4GHz to 5GHz which can larger volumes of data.

Business networks, on the other hand, cater to the needs of large office buildings. The range of the WiFi is enhanced with the help of grids of access points. The range of a WiFi router can be increased using wireless hotspots.
